Young Actors Playhouse is excited to announce auditions for our New York production of “Song of the Winter!”
In order to keep their family together following a devastating loss, five sisters place their salvation in the hands of a stranger.
Students auditioning will be asked to read scenes from the script. Please register below, and we will email you copies of the scenes for auditions. There will be a short parent/cast meeting before auditioning begins to go over more specific information about this program.
Auditions will be at our Kennesaw Studio.

Auditions will be Saturday, March 30th, at 3:00 PM. The auditions will end around 5:00 PM.
Rehearsals will be on Sundays and Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 beginning April 3rd through June 26th. The cast (and at least one chaperone per cast member) will travel to New York City to perform this show at the 124 Bank Street Theater on Manhattan’s Lower West Side.
While in New York, students will also attend acting and musical theater workshops, and have time to attend a Broadway production.
Tech rehearsals will be 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Wednesday, July 10th and Thursday July 11th at the theater in New York.
Performance for Cast A will be Friday, July 12th 8:00 PM
Performance for Cast B will be Saturday, July 13th, 8:00 PM
The following fees are required for this program:
$500 production fee to perform in the show in New York. (students only)
$200 workshop fee for the musical theater and acting workshops. (students only)
Students who are not cast in the production are still invited to also travel to New York to attend the workshops.
Each student cast in the production will receive 4 tickets that can either be used by friends and family or sold to other cast members or someone else who wants to attend the performance. Tickets are $25 each.
We are working with a travel agent for airline tickets with Delta and hotel. The rate is $600 per person for air fare and 4 person per hotel room lodging arrangement, however other accommodations are available depending on your needs.
All students must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone.
ERICA- Female, age 16-17. Oldest of the five sisters. Assumes the role of parent to her 4 younger sisters following the death of their mother. She is charged with maintaining a stable household for her sisters, paying the bills, and most importantly, making sure that no one discovers that her mother has died. She is is filled with self doubt, constantly second guessing her decisions, criticizing her own mistakes. She is self sacrificing, and happily surrenders her teenage years to care for her sisters. She is deeply faithful in God, relying on spiritual strength to get her family through their misfortune.
KAREN- Female, age 14-15. Second oldest of the five sisters. She is wise and patient, providing emotional support to her older sister, Erica. She is caring and nurturing to her 3 younger sisters.
SARAH- Female, age 12-13. Third oldest of the five sisters. Formerly a popular cheerleader, she is deeply depressed following her mother’s death. She is isolated from her friends at school, none of whom know that her mother has died. She is willful and frequently questions Erica’s decisions about how to care for the family.
RACHEL- Female, age 9-11. Second youngest of the five sisters. She is observant, cheerful, and optimistic. She is mature for her age, and helps care for her little sister Terri. Her positive attitude in the face of despair helps hold her sisters together.
TERRI- Female, age 8-9. Youngest of the five sisters. Friendly and personable. She isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind. She is aware that she doesn’t understand everything about the world she and her sisters are living in, and looks to her sisters to help her navigate through her emotions.
