Cheatham Hill Elementary Production of Back to the Beanstalk

We are so excited to bring our in-school drama program back to Cheatham Hill Elementary!

Jack’s village has been over run with rats and mice. In order to pay the Piper, Jack is forced to sell his cow at the market. When Jack foolishly trades his cow for beans, all seems to be lost, however as fate would have it, the beans grow into a giant beanstalk. Come find out what Jack learns when he goes “Back to the Beanstalk!”

The first of the Children’s Garden Series, “Back to the Beanstalk” is an imaginative retelling of the story of Jack, his cow, and the beanstalk. It’s filled with incredible music, great characters, and a wonderful message for children about how to treat people when they are different than we are.

Rehearsals will be at Cheatham Hill Elementary School immediately after school beginning January 23th!

Our staff will come to the school each week to rehearse the kids for this wonderful play. Children learn how to act, sing, and dance while rehearsing for the performance. This is a full-length musical with lots of singing and dancing, and requires a four month commitment of memorizing lines, music, and attending rehearsals each week. Performances are currently scheduled for 7:00 PM Friday, April 28th and 3:00 PM, Saturday April 29th.

We have three levels of involvement to suit many different degrees of commitment:

Drama Club Level- ALL GRADES. Class meets once a week on Mondays from 2:30 PM-3:30 PM. Students will learn singing, dancing, and acting skills but not be required to memorize any of their own lines. This is great for kids who are brand new to theater and looking to gain confidence and experience. THESE STUDENTS WILL BE IN THE PERFORMANCE.

Rising Star Level*- K-2nd GRADE. Class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 PM-3:30 PM. These students will have lines, scenes, and solo singing roles in the performance.

Super Star Level*- 3rd-5th Grade. Class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 PM-4:30 PM. These students will have lines, scenes, and may have several solo singing roles in the performance.

*Rising Stars and Super Stars are accepted based on behavior, experience, and ability. Some students may not be ready for these levels.

There is a production fee of $200 which covers instruction, supervision, major costume piece rental, and wireless microphone rental.
Please register your child to be included on the mailing list.
