Cheatham Hill Elementary School Production of Goldilocks and the Curse of the Porridge

We are so excited to bring our in-school drama program back to Cheatham Hill Elementary!

Something scary is coming. There are whispers in the shadows of the forest. The Creepy Critters are preparing for Halloween. Sherry the Sheep is concerned that her best friend Little Red is keeping something from her… and Goldilocks is a spoiled brat! Desperate to win Porky’s Porridge Pageant, Goldilocks ends up cursing the village, and everyone begins turning into bears! Will Goldilocks be able to figure out how to reverse the curse, or will the villagers be doomed to spend the rest of their lives eating honey and berries!

The fourth chapter of the Children’s Garden Series, “Goldilocks and the Curse of the Porridge” is an imaginative story filled with exciting characters and memorable music.

Rehearsals will be at Cheatham Hill Elementary School immediately after school beginning August 21st!

Our staff will come to the school each week to rehearse the kids for this wonderful play. Children learn how to act, sing, and dance while rehearsing for the performance. This is a full-length musical with lots of singing and dancing, and requires a four month commitment of memorizing lines, music, and attending rehearsals each week. Performances are currently scheduled for 3:00 PM & 7:00 PM December 16th.

We have three levels of involvement to suit many different degrees of commitment:

Drama Club Level– ALL GRADES. Class meets once a week on Mondays from 2:30 PM-3:30 PM. Students will learn singing, dancing, and acting skills but not be required to memorize any of their own lines. This is great for kids who are brand new to theater and looking to gain confidence and experience. THESE STUDENTS WILL BE IN THE PERFORMANCE.

Rising Star Level*- K-2nd GRADE. Class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 PM-3:30 PM. These students will have lines, scenes, and solo singing roles in the performance. This is a MAJOR commitment.

Super Star Level*- 3rd-5th Grade. Class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 PM-4:30 PM. These students will have lines, scenes, and may have several solo singing roles in the performance. This is a MAJOR commitment.

*Rising Stars and Super Stars MUST audition to be placed in this program. Auditions will be held at our Kennesaw location on Sunday, August 20th at 6:00 PM. If your child has previously scheduled activities, and absolutely cannot attend these auditions, please let us know so we can find another time. Auditions will be at:
1610 Cobb International Blvd
Kennesaw, GA 30152

There is a $50 per month cost to be involved in Drama Club which covers 4 months of instruction, supervision, and major costume piece rental. There is an additional $25 per month production fee if your child is cast in the Rising Star or Super Star program which covers the cost of additional instruction/supervision as well as wireless mic rental.

Please register your child to be included on the mailing list.
